The highest priority of the Yucaipa Valley Water District has always been to preserve and protect the Valley’s water resources for current and future generations. With this in mind, the District has developed and partnered with other agencies to offer a variety of education programs in the classroom and also at District facilities.
The Yucaipa Valley Water District has partnered with the Inland Empire Resource Conservation District to present water use efficiency programs to students grades K-12. The Water Use Efficiency program is designed to meet California State Standards and is free of charge. The educator will come to your facility or school to present this program.
Grade Level - Pre K-8: The Water Use Efficiency Program teaches students about where their water comes from, the water cycle, how much water they use daily, and how to use water more efficiently at home and at school, with the help of colorful diagrams and maps. The educator will use a model to explain how ground water is used and protected. The instructional period is followed by a game where participating students answer trivia questions about water use and efficiency.
Grade Level - 9-12: The Water Use Efficiency Program teaches students about where their water comes from, how much water they use daily, and how to use water more efficiently at home and at school. At this level, students also explore water treatment very thoroughly, aided by an educator using the water and sewer models.
